And what better way to celebrate a connection to the outside world, as well as follow up a review of last year’s best music, with a look ahead at a great new song from an upcoming 2009 release?Any fan of The New Pornographers who’s yet to hear A.C. Newman’s 2004 solo debut The Slow Wonder is really missing out - it’s a very solid collection of some of the decade’s best power pop that can stand next to anything Newman’s primary band has done. “There Are Maybe Ten Or Twelve” is the first glimpse at both Get Guilty, Newman’s upcoming sophomore record, as well as 2009, with a release set on 1/20. The track is vintage Newman - instantly memorable melodies over lush instrumentation. Make of that what you will.
